Barbie, Betty & Wilma
Meet my plastic friends... I began photographing the large 3' tall Barbies during my Masters program at the Art Institute of Boston. While working on an identity study in photography, I found these large dolls to be a perfect representation of the compliant child. Caught between childhood and pre-teen, these plastic girls offered an opportunity to visually explore themes of identity, gender, and family dynamic.
